Volunteer With Us

At El Nido Family Centers, volunteers play a vital role in strengthening our programs and supporting the families we serve.
Whether you're volunteering individually or as part of a group, you have the opportunity to make an impact. Whether assisting with homework, tending to our community garden, supporting child abuse prevention efforts, or simply offering a supportive presence, volunteers are instrumental in our work. Additionally, the support that volunteers provide makes a huge difference to our staff, giving them the critical support they need to do high-quality work. Our volunteer opportunities happen Mondays-Sundays at sites across Los Angeles. We’re sure you’ll find something that aligns with your skills, schedule, and interests.
Frequently Asked Questions
Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering with El Nido Family Centers! The safety and well-being of our clients, staff, and volunteers is our highest priority. Please read more below about the current state of the program as well as safety measures we are taking.
The first step in the registration process is to attend a virtual Volunteer Orientation session. During this session, you will learn about our programs, policies, procedures, requirements, and much more. You can view our orientation calendar here and sign up for a session. You may not register for a volunteer opportunity until you have completed this step as well as the additional requirements and have received approval from our Volunteer Coordinator to sign-up.
Individuals who plan to volunteer directly with El Nido clients more than three times per year must attend a virtual volunteer orientation session, complete a volunteer application, and pass a Live Scan background check. Please note: Most Live Scans cost approximately $30, and El Nido does not provide reimbursement.
Before volunteering directly with El Nido clients, we will ask that volunteers complete and pass a Live Scan background check. We will also ask all volunteers to agree to our El Nido Volunteer waiver, and Safety Protocols during each visit (via our check-in form).
Volunteers will support the essential programs and needs of our youth and families, including academic support (homework help and tutoring), teen services (career readiness), food equity initiatives (community garden and Farmers Market) as well as wellness activities, like fitness and play programs and art activities.
