The Select Home Visitation program, funded by First 5 LA, partners families with a Parent Educator who will develop a plan to address their family’s needs.

Visits are designed to build protective factors and reduce risk factors. The Parent Educators use an evidence-based early childhood home visiting model called Parents as Teachers (PAT). PAT was developed to build strong communities, healthy families, and children that are healthy safe, and ready to learn.

​Model-Certified Parent Educators emphasize parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting, and family well-being as they deliver services to families. The PAT program is designed to increase the parents’ knowledge of their child’s health and development, school readiness and parent involvement, improve parenting practices, parent-child relationships, child health and development and family health, and prevent child abuse and neglect.
