On Thursday, April 16th, El Nido Family Centers, in partnership with Councilmember Felipe Fuentes and Hugo’s Restaurant co-owners, Emily and Tom Kaplan, brought together businesses, corporations, foundations, and individuals for a very special Garden to Table luncheon at the Pacoima Community Center in part to celebrate El Nido’s 90th Anniversary.
“El Nido is revitalizing the economic corridor in Pacoima along Van Nuys Blvd and creating a vision for success,” Councilmember Fuentes said.
“With a partnership between the City of Los Angeles, El Nido and Hugo’s Restaurants, a vision is turning into a reality. “Collaborating with El Nido and Hugo’s Restaurants allows us to create opportunities for community members to have healthier lifestyles. Not only are we increasing access to healthy foods, we are also mentoring our youth. Together we are delivering on our shared mission to help all of our communities live happier, healthier, more successful lives.”
The over 90 in attendance enjoyed the beautiful, newly painted courtyard with the recently planted garden beds with fruit, vegetables, and herbs.
Delicious hors d’oeuvre were prepared by El Nido youth participating in the new culinary arts class using some of the food from the garden, then lunch was served. Read more & View Gallery…
