News and information from our Pacoima FamilySource Center
A group of amazing volunteers spent their Saturday morning stuffing 200 duffel bags with sports equipment for the kids at El Nido Family Centers.
Play It Forward a student-run organization sponsored the event and provided the sports gear for the duffels, and our longtime partner Los Angeles Trial Lawyers’ Charities contributed fitness essentials and goodies for the event.
By growing the food, harvesting and sharing the bounty, El Nido’s clients made a connection to each other, their families and their neighborhood. The El Nido garden also supplied herbs and vegetables to our culinary skills teaching kitchen.
Each week, El Nido’s Culinary To-Go program provides families with grocery boxes and recipes to cook healthy meals. Together, families enjoy wholesome, nutritious meals along with a family-friendly activity, during our virtual cooking classes.
Culinary Academy youth served a delicious vegetarian meal for more than 50 children and parents, featuring products donated from ALDI Markets; Empanadas and Mini Tostadas
Launched in April of 2019, El Nido’s GRYD Gaming Group is off to a great start at our Pacoima FamilySource Center. The goal of the class is to utilize something that our youth are already engaged in, as a vehicle to help build “soft” skills and community collaboration.
