Scholarship Event Honors Students and Patrons

El Nido recently awarded 25 college scholarships to current or former program participants at a luncheon held at Cal State Los Angeles. The afternoon was a very special event for our students, their families and our guests. Colleges our honorees will be attending include UCLA, Mt. St. Mary’s, Cal States and community colleges. Majors include biology, chemistry, nursing, business, marketing, psychology, social work, and criminal justice.

These scholarships are made possible thanks to the generosity of the Payson Wolff family, the de Miranda Foundation, Citibank, family and friends of Robert W. Scrivner, the John Coleman Foundation, the Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation, the Cal-State Los Angeles Chicano Studies Department, and the El Nido Family Centers’ Alumni Association.

Established in 1992, the scholarship program has awarded financial assistance to over 300 current and former clients who are pursuing advanced education degrees.  It extremely rewarding to invest in these young people who are dedicated to improving their lives, the lives of their families and their communities.
